Meet the team
The International Beauty and Holistic Academy is headed up by Julie Speed and Debbie Moore, who have been working together for over 30 years.
Julie Speed - Director
Julie Speed has 30 years of experience in the industry, both working in a salon environment and in a training capacity with FE and private colleges; she also has experience in education and qualification development and is a highly qualified IPL specialist. Julie was Director of Operations for BABTAC & CIBTAC from 2010 to 2013, and a member of the Board before that. Working with business partner Debbie Moore, they operate a salon in Gloucester which has been open for 30 years.
Debbie Moore - Director
Debbie Moore has over 24 years industry experience and shares Julie's passion for good quality training. Taking on the role of Managing Director of their shared beauty salon, Debbie helped oversee a move to new, larger premises to increase capacity in response to demand. Debbie was also fundamental in managing their charity Cedars Amethyst Trust where funds were raised to provide beauty therapy treatments for cancer patients and was Winner of Contribution to the Community Award on two occasions.
Kerry Lawlor - Principal
Kerry Lawlor has 30 years experience in the industry, both working in a salon and education environment. Kerry started working in salons then teaching in a large Further Education College, progressing to quality assurance work. Kerry was most recently employed to carry out the day to day running of an international awarding organisation, also supporting in the development of beauty and holistic qualifications. Kerry’s passion is helping students develop their skills to fulfil their dreams and aspirations.
Sam Phelps - Tutor
Sam Phelps has worked for Julie and Debbie at Cedars, for 12 years as a beauty therapist. Sam is an outstanding therapist and believes that continuing to work in the salon gives her up to the minute knowledge and skills base that can be passed on to her students. Sam has also been teaching Beauty Therapy for six years at local Further Education Colleges.
